The PHS boys basketball teams traveled to Sainte Genevieve Friday, January 8. Freshman and JV came out with a win.

The freshmen score was 33-31 making their record 6-0. In the first quarter, they were down 8-2, but they fought for a comeback. In the fourth quarter, freshman Jarren Cross made a free-throw to put Potosi up by two with fifteen seconds left in the game. Ste. Genevieve tried to make a comeback to win the game but missed a layup.

The junior varsity came out with another win as well with a final score of 41-35 making their record 7-0. In the last quarter, with two minutes left, the game was tied 35-35. The Trojans went on a six-point scoring spree and left the crowd cheering while they took home another win.

Unfortunately, the varsity lost 65-60, putting their record at 6-6. Throughout the game, the score was very close. Potosi was only down by two with thirty seconds left in the fourth quarter. To get the ball back they had to foul, but Ste. Genevieve made their free throws making it hard for the Trojans to come back. After talking to Walton after the game he says “Learn from the mistakes and be better.”

The next games will be at Kingston High School, but only for junior varsity and varsity.
