On Thursday, May 13, the PHS Softball Lady Trojans defeated the Forsyth Panthers by a score of 4-1 in the MO State Quarter-Final game played at the Trojan Recreational Complex.

Junior Sami Huck collected 14 strikeouts and only gave up three hits in the Trojan victory. Together with senior Hannah Jarvis, Huck controlled the corners of the plate. This season Huck has only given up 20 walks, while striking out 257.

Senior Emilee Hector had her first season playing softball ever this year. She said, “It [being a part of the final four] is very exciting and unlike anything I’ve ever been a part of before.”

The Trojan offense was led by freshman Gracie Lawson who drove in all four of Potosi’s runs, including a three-run home run in the first inning, driving in junior Chelbi Poucher and sophomore Emily Hochstatter. Sophomore Jade Williams, senior Emma Eaton, and Poucher, Hochstatter, and Jarvis also had hits in the contest.

The Trojans will be moving on to the State Semifinals at Springfield to face Diamond on Friday, May 21 at 4 p.m. at Killian Softball Complex in Springfield MO. Tickets are available at MSHSAA.org. This is the Lady Trojans second trip to the final four, after finishing third in 2019.
