Potosi Invitational

The PHS Cross Country team held the Potosi Invitational, their annual home meet, on Saturday, October 9, 2021. It was a conference meet, and medals were given to 30 finishers in each division. In the overall team competition, PHS girls earned 3rd place and the boys were right behind them in 4th.

Of the 30 medalists, PHS varsity girls & boys medalist were Celeste Sansegraw 13th, Alyson Skiles 16th, Allie Land 24th, and Zeke Sisk 6th. All-Conference athletes were Zeke Sisk, Celeste Sansegraw, and Alyson Skiles.

Sophomore, Zeke Sisk said, “My favorite part of the Potosi meet was definitely how many people came out to support us runners. I know cross country isn’t always the most exciting sport to watch, but seeing the community as well as old teammates come out to cheer us on really made a positive difference. This meet was particularly tough for me because of the responsibility of leading our team to do good at our home meet. I wouldn’t give up our position if I had the chance, but the mental wear and tear is something that got me to this race. Next meet I am looking forward to redeeming myself against some of my running rivals and hopefully even set a new personal record.”

JV girls who placed were Allie Heeter 10th, and Emily Hochstatter 14th. JV boys Alex Smith 6th, David Declue 12th, Jacob Lewis 15th, and Kolbey Heeter 17th.

This Saturday the team will be traveling to Engler Park in Farmington where to compete in the Farmington Invitational.

The district tournament will be held in Arcadia Valley on Saturday, October 30.
