Black History Month

Autumn Hedrick

As many Americans know, black history month begins on February 1. This began in 1915 started by Carter G Woodson. Black history month is a month when African Americans get recognition for the role they play in the world. This is celebrated in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Even though this has been a month that has been celebrated for over 100 years, many are still critical when it comes to black history month. Morgan Freeman, a five-time Oscar-winning actor said, “I don’t want a Black History Month. Black history is American history.”
