Honk! The Ugly Duckling Musical

L Johnson, Reporter

To kick off the fall, PHS students are preparing to perform their fall musical ”Honk.” The play is directed by Mr. Dement, and the Music is directed by Mrs. Lewis.

Starring Senior Avery Grindstaff as “Ugly” and Freshman Macy Saunders as “Maureen/Bullfrog/Ensemble” the story tells the audience about an ugly duckling trying to find its way back to its mother.

“My first reaction was pure shock. I couldn’t believe I actually got to be the ugly duckling. I had no idea it would happen. Any character would of made me happy, I just wanted to be a part of the team and help support everyone and make things better any way I can,” Grindstaff said. “I am most excited to bond with everyone and build memories that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. These people are amazing and I cannot wait to be closer with them.”

Saunders said, “ I was super excited for when I found out that I had been cast as well as I was.  When I had first read through the character descriptions I thought that the bullfrog was a very fun character but I hadn’t considered myself getting the role because it was initially meant for a man. So I was very pleased with that portion of the casting.”

The PHS theater department will be presenting “Honk! The ugly duckling musical” on Nov. 10 through Nov. 12, starting at 7:00 p.m., and a showing on Nov. 13, starting at 3:00 p.m.
