The Potosi High School tennis team took first place in the Farmington tournament on September 16, 2022.

Coach Mueller said, “The main thing that made me nervous before the tournament was how much we’ve already played. Since Labor Day, we have already played 7 matches and a tournament. I was a little worried about how much gas we had in the tank. I knew if we could get ready that we had a chance for a really good day.”

That day the Potosi High School tennis team took first place with a total of 37 team points.

Coach Mueller said, “I was thrilled with how the day went. Last year we finished 2nd to Farmington by two points in the tournament. If just one match, out of about three, had gone different we could have won the tournament last year. So to be in the same situation, and come out on top was a great feeling. Any trip that brings home a trophy or plaque is a good one.”

Individually the top six earned metals. Tori Krebs got 2nd,  Lani Elders got 3rd, Jessica Littrell got 1st, Grace Laramore got 1st, Kya Gibson got 1st, and Gracie Lawson got 2nd.

Coach Mueller said, “If I had to pick one player from the tournament that stood out I would say it would be Jessica Littrell. Her first match went as long as possible, and ultimately made the difference overall. Her match against the number 3 from Windsor High School lasted 2 hours and 28 minutes. Each set featured a tiebreaker situation (Overtime for tennis). Actually by the end of the day she told me that her watch said that she had played 3 hours and 47 minutes of tennis.”

The next match will be the conference tournament.
