The Potosi High School cross country team competed very well in their first meet at St. Vincent on Wednesday Aug. 30. The girls team brought home a first place plaque and boys brought home third place. This team has so much potential.
Potosi High School cross country coach Amanda Politte said, “Our team has so much potential and I am looking forward to this season and all that we accomplish.”
Coach Politte said, “Our biggest competition is ourselves. We have to make sure we are mentally prepared and focused the whole season, and keep ourselves healthy.”
All runners set their goal at the beginning of the season.
Potosi senior Alyson Skiles said, “I want to earn an All-State medal this year and set a new PR.”
The Potosi High team had many freshmen join the team over the summer. Freshmen were very nervous coming in, but showed up and put in the effort and proved to themselves that their first 5k and race really isn’t that bad.
Potosi High freshman Kanaan Wilson said, “It felt good to place at my first high school meet. I am looking forward to this season and my goal is to medal at every meet.”
Wilson and Potosi High freshman Payton Heifner medaled in the top 15 at St. Vincent. This is an amazing start to their first year as a part of the High School Cross Country team and a part of an amazing family.
