On Friday morning, October 6, guest speakers Mike and Jess from Next Generation Assembly will speak to the PHS student body and staff about their experiences with bullying.
Mike Dawson and Jess Angelique are anti-bullying advocates. They have been asked to come to Potosi High School for Bullying Prevention Week. These two have been to 8 different states, making a total of over 320 assemblies. They use music, dancing and pictures to help them speak to students. Mike and Jess have motivated over 110,000 students through their interactive assemblies.
Students from all around have given written reviews at the end of the assembly. One said, “Thank you for coming to our school to share your music with us kindly. Your stories were very powerful and inspiring. I’m pretty sure you guys have helped so many people with your words of wisdom. Thank you for making us feel we’re worth something.”
Jenny Hobbs, a counselor at Santa Fe High School in Alma, Missouri said, “This assembly was extremely uplifting and encouraging! We were all very impressed with how engaging Jess and Mike were with our students. The students loved the music and message, and I personally was surprised at how well the performers were able to integrate the two.”
This assembly will start during Trojan Time and will last about an hour and a half. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about the different ways they can help someone who is experiencing or has experienced bullying.
