Major League Baseball started voting ballots this month, as they conclude their 2023 season.
The yearly awards based on performance and respect from peers were announced throughout the week of November 13-17. The winners for American League and National League Rookie of the Year are Corbin Carroll and Gunnar Henderson. The winners of AL and NL Manager of the Year are Brandon Hyde and Skip Schumacker. The winners of AL and NL Cy Young awards are Gerrit Cole and Blake Snell. And the winners of AL and NL MVP awards are Shohei Ohtani and Ronald Acuna Jr. Several players were announced for the Silver Slugger and the Gold Glove awards.
Other awards given were the ALCS and NLCS MVP’s, awarded to Adolis Garcia and Ketel Marte. The World Series MVP winner was Corey Seager. The Roberto Clemente award was given to Aaron Judge. And the last award was the All Star award, given to Elias Diaz.
The Rookie of the Year award was renamed as The Jackie Robinson Award in 1987 to mark the fortieth anniversary of his introduction to baseball. Another award named after a former player in the league is the Hank Aaron award, this award was introduced in 1999 after he exceeded Babe Ruth’s homerun record. 18 players also won the Gold Glove award.
With 376 submitted ballots from MLB players, the 2023 MLB season has come to an end.
