On January 31st, PHS counselors and college advisers are hosting a FAFSA Frenzy night for seniors and their parents.
The FAFSA Frenzy will held from 5:30 – 7 pm in the high school library. The FAFSA Frenzy is to help any senior student or parent fill out the FAFSA for the upcoming college year. Miss Gray highly encourages the students to attend.
FAFSA is financial aid from the government to help students pay for college. The U.S. Department of Education uses the FAFSA to determine a student’s eligibility for need-based federal financial aid for college based upon their financial situation.
The FAFSA was opened on December 31 with a soft launch. With the FAFSA being a soft launch, not many people have been able to fill it out yet. The FAFSA was only open between 7am-7pm most days.
To fill out the FAFSA each student/parents will need to bring a list of paperwork to properly fill out the FAFSA.
The information needed is:
-Student and parent FAFSA ID and passwords
-Copy of 2022 Tax Returns
-Social Security numbers
-Birthdates
-Marriage/Divorce/Separation dates
-Current value on investments (excluding home and retirement plans)
-Current cash and checking/saving account balances
Attendance prizes will be awarded to lucky attendees of FASFA Frenzy. See you there!
