On Tuesday April 9, the Potosi Trojans Baseball team played the Farmington Knights at home. Coming back from a win against Ellington the week prior, the Trojans were feeling good about this game. Both teams played well but in the end the Knights won with a score of 5-1.
The Knights took an early lead with three runs after the third inning and later scored two more to get a lead of 5-0. The Trojans scored one run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but despite the Trojan’s efforts throughout the game they weren’t able to come through with the win.
Trojans baseball assistant coach Ron McRaven stated, “We really needed to play flawless defense yesterday against Farmington. Sophomore Lane Revelle pitched a great game, and the mistakes that we made in the field, those are the ones that cost us. It should’ve been a close game with the good pitching duel we had, but we needed to string together more hits.”
The Trojans were up to bat for the last inning of the game. Junior Ayden Ricketts scored the first run for the Trojans, but the Knights were able to get three outs to win the game. Ricketts stated, “We could’ve gotten more runs by just being patient and taking our time at the plate. We were really antsy up to bat and I think that’s what hurt us the most.”
The Trojans’ next game is Friday, April 12 at noon.
