Potosi Varsity volleyball traveled to Sullivan High School, Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024 for their jamboree to play Sullivan and Owensville.
The Trojans played Sullivan coming out with a victory over the Eagles with set scores of 25-20, 25-12, 25-15.
The Lady Trojans then played Owensville right after their game against Sullivan. The Lady Trojans once again took home the win against Owensville. The box scores were 25-19, 25-17, 25-20.
This pre-season the varsity girls traveled to Cape Girardeau and Mizzou. When going to Mizzou, the girls experienced a lot of team bonding. Cape Girardeau had prepared the girls for hard competition this season.
Senior player A. Robart said, “I think that we are going to be very successful this year. All of the players have worked incredibly hard all summer going to the camps and conditioning and I think that our potential this year is unmatched compared to previous seasons.”
The Lady Trojans varsity squad includes senior Ava Robart, senior Carsyn Yount, senior Cloey Wigger, senior Layla Juliette, senior Tayler Rayfield, sophomore Eden Robart, sophomore Macyn McCarthy, and freshman Eve Litton.
The Varsity jamboree is something the varsity girls have been doing for years now.
Head Varsity Coach, Mrs. Matthews said, “The varsity volleyball team had a great showing at the Sullivan jamboree! They are a very talented group of girls and are eager for a successful season and it showed on the court Tuesday night!”
The next game for the Lady Trojans is Sept. 3 against West County.
