Many people gathered to watch the groundbreaking for Purcell Tire at the Washington County Industrial Park on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
The ground was broken by owners Bob and Juanita Purcell, IDA Consulting Director Jaclyn Rowe, C.E.O. Roger Lucas, Central Regional Manager of Missouri Department of Economic Development Mitch Rademan, and Washington County Commissioners Cody Brenley, Dave Sansagraw, Doug Short
The groundbreaking formally started the building of the new Purcell Tire distribution facility and fleet maintenance. This will allow the company to store and distribute products nationwide and perform regular maintenance on its fleet of trucks. It will improve efficiency, saving the company money.
Rowe helped make this possible, her role was to provide incentives and bring Purcell to the next level. Rowe and the rest of the IDA team helped negotiate incentives to keep the business expansion local.
Work on the building has already begun. They have already started prep work and construction will be underway within the next few weeks.
Rowe said, “It is very exciting to see growth and expansion in one of our local companies. The creation of new jobs is essential to maintaining and improving our local economy.”
Many people are excited about the new opportunity the new facility will bring. Purcell Tire and the groundbreaking was supported by members of the IDA Board, U.S Congressman Blaine Leutkemeyer, Missouri Representative Mike McGirl, Representative Mike Henderson, and 100 community members.
PHS Sophomore Lucy Degonia is excited about some of the new opportunities the facility will bring. She said, “The Purcell expansion will bring many new jobs to the community which is exciting for everyone.”
Washington County Executive Director Mandy Missey-Blanks said, “Purcell Tire choosing to build the new building in Potosi is great for our growing town. The benefits of having the new building are endless into adding in additions to better fit our community and economics and more jobs. The Purcell story is amazing and they are such a truly inspiring success story.”
