Ms. Reichert is an art teacher here at Potosi High School and Potosi Elementary. The 2024-2025 school year will be her third year teaching.
She has a flexible work schedule as she comes to the high school in the morning for half of the day and then moves to the elementary school. Her hobbies include creating art, shopping, and being outdoors.
Back in 2016, Ms. Reichert graduated from Arcadia Valley High. Soon after, she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Education from Mineral Area College. She later transferred and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University. In college, Ms. Reichert tried out various forms of art, from painting to welding and wood making. Her favorite memory from college would have to be the entire experience overall.
At Potosi High School, Ms. Reichert is the co-leader of the art club. They have worked on plenty of projects in or around the school and have extended into the town of Potosi. Ms. Reichert attended art club in her high school for all four years. Her favorite memory from those years would be when she participated in running their fall festival.
“I think it’s really cool to see all the different things that each and every student from these different backgrounds can create. It’s really nice to see them all come together,” Ms. Reichert said. Some of her plans for the future include continuing to make the Potosi High School art program larger and participating in the end of the year annual Mineral Area College Art Show. Every year she selects art pieces from throughout the year to compete in different categories for best in show.
Last year, Junior Jazmine Ramsey placed 1st in the black and white category. “Ms. Reichert is very creative and having her class the last three years has helped me a lot. Especially with different art mediums and she has inspired me to become an art teacher myself in the future,” Ramsey said.
Over at the elementary school, Ms. Reichert teaches Kindergarten art with three classes per day. Though kindergarteners might not have a large skill set yet when it comes to art, she tries hard and is patient with the kids to make sure they improve every day and continue to have fun in her class. They have created painting, marker, crayon, and other mixed media projects under her instruction. At the end of the school year, their art pieces are displayed at Potosi High School for parents to see at the kindergarten graduation.
Ms. Reichert may seem like an average art teacher, but she’s more of a role model and a dedicated person that students can put their trust into. She always strives to help her students produce their best work in any way she can. With her tight schedule and eventful days, she always manages to keep a positive attitude and lighten up the classroom.
