Being a freshman on varsity is a big accomplishment but some are more difficult than others. Freshman tennis player Chole Rowe was awarded a varsity singles spot on the Potosi High School Girls Tennis Team. Rowe has worked her way up by challenging the number seven and then challenged the number six to make it to the top six, getting her a singles spot on varsity.
Rowe said, “My goals for the rest of the season are to do well at districts and get as far as I can and for the rest of my highschool career is to stay top 3 and go to state at least once.”
Tennis Coach Danny Mueller said, “Chole came out at the beginning of the summer and started from scratch with tennis. It was clear early on that two things about her would allow her to be successful at this. One is her natural athletic ability, which is easy to see at both basketball and track. The second is just her inner competitor. It didn’t take me long to figure out that she likes to win, and expects to win.”
Senior tennis player Lani Elder said, “I’m so glad Chloe chose to come try tennis out her freshman year. Chloe is just a natural athlete and she is a competitor. She adds a young but very talented addition to the varsity line up. Chloe reminds me of my freshman self who started off not knowing anything about tennis and continued to work to get better and learn. I love Chloe so much and can’t wait to see how she grows not just on the tennis court but through her high school years.”
Rowe is 19-10 on the season while approaching districts. Rowe has a new boost of confidence and is ready to take on the rest of the season and the rest of her high school career.
