On Monday, October 8, two players from Potosi High School were named athletes of the week.
Freshman Chloe Rowe and junior Shannon Riddle won Athlete of the Week as double partners on the varsity tennis team. Rowe and Riddle were presented with Athlete of the Week by Brent Gant at Unico Bank.
Rowe states,” It feels good and helps me have more confidence in myself playing at a higher level as a younger player who hasn’t had much experience.”
This season has been Rowe and Riddle’s first year as double partners on the Lady Trojans tennis team. Rowe and Riddle started out the year on JV and quickly moved to varsity. They have had a very successful year and have been partners on varsity for the last couple of weeks. Rowe and Riddle have been successful in 7 of their 9 matches.
Riddle states, “ This is my first year playing tennis, it has been an amazing first year. It has been great playing with a good partner which was Chloe Rowe, we play and work really good together and that is how we were able to win games.”
Starting October 14, to October 16, the Lady Trojans will compete in the Class 1 District 1 Team Tournament at SEMO.
