The JV volleyball team competed in the Valle Catholic Tournament at Ste.Gen Sportsplex. They played in this tournament for extra practice and to face hard competition. The team had to work with a new rotation due to missing Adalynn Gibson and Hallie Payne. Key players who stepped up this weekend were Brenley Thornton and Makinnly Summers.
Corinne Ainley said, “I felt good about this tournament. The whole team overcame much adversity by being down two players. Overall we worked hard and ended the day in the gold bracket.”
In pool play they played against Cape Central(2-0), Desoto(1-1), and West County(1-1). In bracket play, they played Ste. Genevieve(2-1) and then in the semi-finals against Valle Catholic(0-2). Their record was 2-1-2.
JV coach Tiara McCarthy said, “I feel that the girls played well during this tournament in Ste. Genevieve. They were in a completely new rotation because we had a couple of players out. They showed a lot of determination to determine how to succeed as a team. I am very proud of them all.”
The JV team this season ended with 9 wins and 6 losses. They had a very successful season and also have things to look forward to as they lose 5 seniors with big roles on our varsity team.
