Mapes said, “The team has made good strides as a summer program and would love for the girls to have a full buy in the Lady Trojans Basketball program and school.”
Senior Aniston Mapes said, “I am excited for the upcoming basketball season. I have high hopes to get 20 season wins and win a conference and district title alongside my teammates.” Mapes and her dedicated teammates spend many hours in the gym working to become better every day.
As coach Mapes believes out working others will pay off so does his team and that is why they are constantly working to get better.
Wilson is excited for this upcoming season and what it has in store. She cannot wait to play with a group of girls who love basketball just as much as she does.
Freshman Brenley Thornton said, “I am ready for the upcoming season and hope to win many games. All of the work we have put in this summer and the team bonding will help us have a successful basketball season.
The girls have had a very fun preseason so far, bonding with each other and creating new friendships and memories together. The girls and coaches are excited and will continue to work hard throughout preseason hoping for a promising season.
When asked about how Coach Mapes is preparing for the upcoming season as a coach he answered, “I am preparing by building relationships and trust with each player.”
Preseason work for the Lady Trojans has been going well and includes summer games and tournaments, morning shoot around every week, weightlifting, summer practices and workouts, and team bonding. The girls have had a winning record throughout this summer within the many shootouts they attended.
