Ava Robart, a 17-year-old senior at Potosi High School, made headlines when she verbally committed to play Division One volleyball at Indiana State University only as a junior. Now, as a senior, Robart will sign to play as a Sycamore for the 2025 season.
Robart started her volleyball career at the age of nine. Her commitment to the sport carried her into her success today. Robart was placed on varsity as a freshman and remained a varsity player for four years.
Robart said, “My dad impacted me the most, not only as a player but also how I look at life. He has always pushed me to be the best version of myself.”
Robart, as a freshman completed her season with 188 kills. As a sophomore, she completed her season with 626 kills. In her junior year, Robart reached her goal of 1,000 kills and ended her season with 1,223 kills overall. Ava recently just achieved her goal of 1,500 kills in the game against Festus on Sept. 25, 2024. After just 90 sets played, she has 1,640 kills overall. Robart’s key goal is to reach 2,000 kills before the end of her senior year.
Robart recently struggled with a high ankle sprain against Farmington. She was out for two weeks. Robart then had an amazing recovery and was able to come back from her sprained ankle after weeks of pain and physical therapy. Robart was able to play in the first game of the conference tournament against West County and has been playing every game since then. Robart has big plans for the rest of her senior year.
Robart’s achievements include being ranked first in class three, ranked first in the state of Missouri, All-State, two-time All-District, two-time All-Conference, J98 Dream Team, Max Preps player of the week, Prep Digs player of the week, KFMO player of the game 25 times, and placing top 50 in the United States of America as of her junior year.
Teammate, Macyn McCarthy said, “I am very proud of Ava for accomplishing her goals. I can’t wait to see her play in college. I have played alongside Ava for two years now. She pushes me to be the best version of myself.”
Robart is hoping to do big things in college and plans to study psychology. She has many goals ahead and she can’t wait to accomplish them.
