The Potosi FFA chapter attended the 97th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana, from October 22 to 25. This convention encouraged members to further their leadership skills, explore more than 350 careers, and engage in a world larger than themselves.
Members stopped in Casey IL and explored “Big Things in a Small Town” in Downtown Casey. Their members were able to walk around to see all of the oversized objects such as a pencil, mailbox, birdcage, and many more. After leaving Casey, members stopped at Connors Prairie, a real-life interactive history museum based in the 19th century, a world without running water, electricity, technology, and other modern-day things we now take for granted. While at Connors Prairie Members learned how people survived during this time they made everything from scratch, grew their food, and heated their homes all by manual labor.
Arriving at the National Convention in Indianapolis, IN, members got to attend student workshops where they chose the topics, which they would like to learn more about. They also explored the career expo, during which over 350 companies and businesses were ready to speak to students about a potential career path.
National Convention is a great opportunity for learning, personal growth, and planning for career success all of which all FFA members should strive to have.
