The band did amazing this weekend winning first in the field show and 3rd in the parade. The band traveled to Illinois to compete in a parade and field show at the Pinckneyville Mardi Gras festival. Where they had the opportunity to win money and dress up in costumes for the Halloween parade marched through the town square.
The field show was a success where they not only won first place but got a soloist award and a drumline award. They got to the school at 10 am loaded up and headed on the road. It was a three-hour bus ride with one stop at the entrance of Illinois.
The parade was another amazing performance from the PHS marching band. They all dressed up as different characters in preparation for Halloween and they placed Ghostbusters as their parade tune. They finished the parade and got third place even though it wasn’t the first they put on an amazing show and was definitely a crowd-pleaser.
Senior Blaine Edmonds was excited to have this season be his last by saying, “ This group has come a long way and we have done a lot of good work. I have seen several young individuals go from not knowing how to mark time to being able to march a whole show. I am so proud of my section and all the work we have put in. It was upsetting to have less than what we expected in the results for Pickneyville, but I am still very proud.”
