Mr Boyd has been teaching for 6 years. But 2 years prior he was a paraprofessional, so he’s been in education for 8 years. He started out as a teacher at the middle school then moved to the high school. His first year he only taught math but this year, his second year at PHS, he expanded his teachings to math and Mass Media. Mass Media used to be taught by Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Cordia, But Mrs. Cordia retired at the end of the 23-24 school year. PHS needed another person to help teach Mass Media so Mr. Boyd stepped up!
Besides teaching, Mr. Boyd is also a student council sponsor and the pole vaulting coach for track. PHS students love Boyd. Sophomore math student Delaney Govero said, “Mr. Boyd is a good teacher because he always finds a way to personally connect with his students either by sports or academics. He also helps me through math problems that I’m having trouble with or don’t understand.”
Junior Mass Media student Emily Brewer said, “Having Mr. Boyd is a little bit different, but in a good way. We now have two teachers to focus on both PT-TV and yearbook which makes a big difference and helps out a lot. Especially when Mrs. Kay is gone, he’s always helping us out with the planning of the upcoming episodes which makes it a lot easier on the staff.” Mr. Boyd is able to connect with students on many levels and has been doing a great job adapting to the different environment of the class.
