On Wednesday, November 6, Potosi’s competitive speech team went to Herculaneum for their second speech meet.
Competitors were anxious when they got up that morning. A few felt like they were going to be sick. The nagging feeling and the dread seemed to build throughout the day.
However, most were excited at the same time. The students taking part felt confident in their pieces and felt that they would do well.
Sam Lawson, a Senior on the team, said, “I felt Nervous but Excited at the same time.”
When they got to the meet, they performed their pieces for two rounds. Their scores varied for each event and each round.
Kalissa Myers, who is also a senior, got third for both rounds but said, “It’s only the first time I’ve done this event. I have plenty of room for improvement.”
Aaron Thompson, a senior, got 1st in one room.
Some students got last place, some students got first. Most ranged right in the middle.
However, all students worked to get where they were, and are working to improve, no matter what score they had received.
