As featured in episode 14 of season two of PTTV, FAFSA Frenzy is an event in the PHS library on Dec 11, 2024, and Jan 22, 2025, to help applicants apply for financial aid.
PHS hosts the FAFSA Frenzy twice in order to help applicants and is a requirement for colleges and universities.
Mrs. Merseal said, “If you’re going to college you must fill out a FAFSA application. The application tells you how much it costs to go to that college. It also tells you how much financial aid you can get from the government.”
Parents also have to make an account after their student. Parents are a required contributor on the FAFSA form as it uses their information to determine household income and Pell Grant eligibility. Student and parent accounts are recommended to be created two or three days in advance so that their identities can be verified.
“I applied for the FAFSA because the school helps a lot in that area when it comes to all the senior things and I heard it could be very beneficial. I think it is important when seniors start thinking about how they are going to pay for their college and it can be very helpful for some,” said Senior Hannah Barron.
