The Missouri National Guard has been visiting with Potosi High School Senior Trojan Time classes to recruit possible members.
Their visits include stories of their experiences, options for high schoolers, and benefits of joining for the cause.
“This is the kind of thing we do. We help our community, we help our state, and we help our nation,” said the guest speaker.
The guest speaker showed options like paid job skills training in technology, trades, and medical fields. He also showed college benefits of up to 100% tuition assistance. This also included being paid $436 per month to be involved with the National Guard two weekends of the month. Other benefits include health insurance for $47 per month for the National Guard Tricare and 401(k) retirement planning.
“Becoming part of the National Guard has really helped me prove to myself that I can do something important with my life and show me that I’ll have a good future,” said future military police officer, Senior Samantha Lawson.
The first trojan time meeting was Dec. 6 in the cafeteria, presenting for Anderson, Major, and Dement’s trojan time. The next was Dec. 9 with Wyrick, Franklin, McRaven, and Student Council Seniors. The last meeting will be Dec. 13 for Reichert and McMahan.
