If you are a student in the National Honors Society, new or returning you have to make up 15 hours of community service by March 1st 2025. If you fail to make up the hours you will be put on probation, You can only have one probation period during your membership.
Don’t let this worry you there’s many ways you can get service hours, if you’re involved in other clubs, most of the time you do things for the club that counts for service hours,
Junior NHS member Emily Brewer said, “Some of the ways I got service hours was from helping with the veterans day assembly for student council and for attending fist bump Friday at the elementary for student ambassadors.”
If your not in a club that would help you get hours Mrs. Christopher also offers other easy ways for you to get a couple hours in. NHS Sponsor Mrs Christopher said, “Students can turn in cans for hours, 25 cans counts as 5 hours and 50 cans counts as 10 hours. Students are welcome to bring more cans to help feed the food pantry.“ any cans brought in must be dropped off to either Mrs. Christopher or Ms. Silvey.
To turn in your hours you can grab a community service form from the Library and fill out the information on it about the service you did, And they must be signed by someone who saw you do the community service, then turn it in to Mrs. Christopher.
