The PHS wrestling team had its third annual dual against the Central Rebels on Wednesday, Dec.11. The girls’ team won 42-18, and the boys’ team won 45-30. The environment the kids wrestle in is something anyone would want to experience.
Sophomore Zane Richards said, “It feels great to win my match in front of the entire student body. I knew coming into the match that my guy was a tough kid so I gave him everything I had and came out on top. It’s awesome hearing the crowd cheering when you win.”
The wrestling team had some amazing pins as well as some incredible slams. Some stick out in the boys and girls teams were Lexi Missey, Launa Cantrell, Kamara Tedder, Karsen Boyer, Gavin Stone, and Tyson Fowler.
Head Coach Michaell Ross said, “The best part about having an assembly in front of the school is that it turns up the energy for my kids. I notice how my boys and girls bring the heat when they have a crowd to support them. It also gives us good practice for districts and state since the environment there is huge.”
The girl’s next meet is tomorrow Friday, Dec.13 at Union and the boy’s team is Saturday, Dec 14 at Herculaneum.
