The Trojans wrestling team traveled to Dexter High School January 24 and 25 for their conference tournament. Out of all of the teams there, the boys took 6th.
The PHS girls were returning conference champs, but they fell short of that and took 2nd. The Ste. Genevieve dragons took home 1st place by over 40 points.The girls team had 2 wrestlers take home first.
105-Kammarra Tedder-lost in the finals by a major decision and took 2nd
115- Alexis Missey- won her finals match by pin and took 3rd
125- Ava Williams- won her finals match by tech fall taking 1st in her bracket
135-Kenzie Wade-lost her finals match by pin taking 2nd place
145-Launa Cantrell-won her finals match by pin and placed 1st in her bracket
The boys team took 6th in the tournament.There were many good teams at the tournament as well as state champions and state medalists.The boys did well against some tough competitors.
120-Gavin Stone- Won his match by fall placing 5th in the tournament
132-Tyson Fowler-lost his finals match by 1 point in a really tough match
144-Zane Richards- Lost his finals match taking 6th overall
175-Karsen Boyer-Won by a major (12-5) taking home 3rd place
190-Nick Brown- Lost by fall he placed 4th overall
215-Justin Rynolds-Lost in the finals by fall placing 6th overall in the tournament.
The boys and girls team fought really hard making a big name for themselves and are excited to go back next year and take home some more hardware. Both teams are looking forward to taking home a team trophy next year.
The next match for the boys and girls team will be at the Central Invitational Friday, February 7 and Saturday, February 8.
