On Monday, March 24, the Potosi Lady Trojans softball team conquered the Arcadia Valley Tigers. The Trojans took a victory against the Tigers with a winning score of 15-0
The Trojans had already defeated the Tigers once this season in a jamboree at Arcadia Valley with a score of 6-3. The Trojans kept the momentum up for this game and led in the first inning with a score of 9-0. The Trojans were capable of not only keeping the lead in the second inning but bringing in more runs as well, making it 13-0. The Trojans finished the game with a run rule after scoring 2 more runs in the third inning.
Junior Shannon Riddle said, “Everyone was hyped and stayed up the whole game. I felt really confident going into the game pitching. Once the first inning was over, I knew we had it in us to win! Everyone played hard, and we had little to no mistakes.”
Riddle led the team defensively by allowing no hits for the Tigers with the help of senior Ava Wright, who caught two fly balls in center field. Senior Lilyan Bryan pulled through offensively by bringing in the runs. Bryan scored 4 runs after hitting two doubles in the first and second inning.
The Lady Trojans beat the Tigers to kick off their first official game of the season. The Trojans will play again on March 26 at home against the Kingston Cougars at 4:30.
