On Monday March 24 the PHS track team travelled to Hillsboro for the CO-ED Hawk Relays.
At the meet, the top three per event received medals. PHS had several field events and relay teams receive medals.
The CO-ED Hawk Relays differ from a usual track meet because of how the relay teams are made up. While each relay team usually consists of four boys that run the men’s race, and four girls who run the women’s race. The CO-ED relay teams consist of two boys and two girls per team with two teams from the same school entered in the same race. This means that boys and girls have the opportunity to run against each other.
Senior Alex Smith said, “It really didn’t feel like a track meet, now that I’m a senior the nerves are gone. I just get to race and have fun.”
