This past week, the PHS boys’ baseball team started its season off by playing 4 games.
Their first game was at home on Monday, March 24th, where they played St. Pius. The final score was 4-7. Freshman Brayden Blair led the team, going 2 for 3. Lane Revelle, Landon Johnson, and Camden Kincade also all had hits.
Head Coach Mr. McRaven said, “ Game 1, we had just our basketball players back from the final four, so our team was not whole. I was not really on our team out there. But the next 3 games we did excellent. Hopefully we can keep the winning streak up.”
Tuesday, March 25th, they played Cuba at home. The boys played hard and secured a win. The final score was 11-1. Blair led the team with 4 hits, while Senior Liam Degonia and Junior Camden Kincade pitched to the win
Wednesday, they played at Herculaneum. The boys swept Herculaneum, winning 10-0. Brayden Blair and Junior Lane Revelle made a significant impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Revelle went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. Junior Camden Kincaid and Sophomore Gavin Mosier also had key plays that ultimately led to Potosi’s victory.
And they ended their first week playing at South Iron. At South Iron, they won 15-2. Friday night was led by Junior Landon Johnson, who got on base on three of his four hits, including a home run and three RBI. Senior Ayden Ricketts was also a major player with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Junior Landon Johnson said, “Monday, we had a few mistakes as expected for the first game, as the week went on, we continued to mesh as a team. Overall, we had a really good first week. I am excited to see what we’re going to accomplish throughout the season.”
Overall, the boys had a great start to their season. Their next game is Monday, March 31, at St. Clair.
