The Potosi Cross Country team has big goals for this upcoming season. They have been working hard all summer and preseason on plans for accomplishing big things. Both girls and boys teams qualified for state last year, and on both sides, they plan on doing this again, and more.
They started their season at the St.Vincent Invitational on Sept. 4. The medalists at this meet were Peyton Heifner (5th) and Brayden Smith (11th). The girls’ team placed 3rd in the meet, and the boys placed 4th.
“I am excited to meet new people and to be able to run at new meets this year, and I hope that I can accomplish everything that I did last year and more,” said junior Peyton Heifner. Last year, Peyton was an all-conference, all-district, and all-state runner. This year, she has those same goals..
“For this season, I hope to get my 5k down to 17 minutes, and I would also like to stay with the top groups at all the meets this season,” said junior Brayden Smith.
“I expect everyone on the team to give 100%; the only thing someone can do wrong is not to give 100%,” said coach Politte, “The dynamic of the team is different because we have a different set of kids, different leaders, and different goals set.”
The Potosi Cross Country team is ready to see what this season will bring for them. They will have their next meet on Sept. 13 at Arcadia Valley.
