On Wednesday, September 24 the varsity Potosi Lady Trojans gained a hard fought victory against Festus going 3-1.
During the tough game some of the star players for our Potosi Lady Trojans were, Junior Eden Robart with 33 kills, Junior Macyn McCarthy with 13 digs , and Junior Adalynn Gibson with 46 assists. These actions helped lead us to the win against the Festus Tigers.
Coach Ashley Matthews said, “The Festus game went really well and I could not be more proud of the girls! Their effort, energy and determination were outstanding and they battled against a state-ranked Class 4 school. From the very first point, they played with heart, intensity, and focus, never letting up until the final whistle. They earned this win and it was a great example of what happens when teamwork and perseverance come together.”
During the tight four set game the Trojans fell short in the first set losing 22-25. However, the next three sets the Trojans kept pushing and finished off with a win 22-25, 17-25, and 21-25.
Though the game was tough, the girls kept their heads high and kept fighting till the last minute leading to the victory of the game.
When star hitter Robart was asked about the game she said, “I think it went good. I definitely was going into it a little doubtful, because they are really big like a lot of six foot girls. We definitely didn’t have the hitters that they had, but we definitely competed and I was very happy with the outcome. I felt like we all dealt with the big block good, and I was just very excited we won.“
With the heart and the will power each of these girls possess they came through the game with a hard fought win against the Festus Lady Tigers.
The next game for the Trojans will be Thursday Oct. 2 away vs Ste. Genevieve.
