On Tue., Sept. 30 the Lady Trojans Tennis team lost 2-7 against the Festus Tigers in a home tennis match.
Senior Shannon Riddle won her singles match against Rosalie Tedford 8 to 6, and senior Emily Brewer defeated Sofia Griffin 8 – 5, securing the two wins for the Lady Trojans.
Brewer said, “I think I did really well. This was only my second time ever playing singles and it just got put on me right in the spot like 10 minutes before I went out and played, because someone got sick, so overall I did pretty good, had a few little mistakes, but overcame them.“
Shannon Riddle said, “I felt like I was placing the ball where I wanted, moving my opponent around, and staying consistent. It was a close match, but I was able to pull through and win 8-6.”
Riddle added about her doubles match that although she and Rowe lost 7 to 9 to Gray and Lee, their movement and communication on the court was the best they ever had, which she described as a great feeling. And they could show a lot of growth as doubles partners.
The next home match is going to be on Thur., Oct. 2 against Kennett.
