Every year, Potosi High School has the chance to come together in front of the high school, where there is music, worship, group prayers, and so much more.
See You at The Pole is a student-led event that began in the 1990s, where students gather around their school’s flag pole to honor God and his followers. See You at The Pole is a global day for students all over the world every fourth Wednesday in September.
See You at The Pole is an amazing opportunity for all different students who follow Christ to get together as a community to grow together. See You at The Pole has helped to bridge the gap between students with different interests, views, friends, and backgrounds.
Mr. Fulton said, “I think it’s more of an eye-opening experience to look around and be like, ‘There’s this many people here supporting prayer at the pole’ because you can go through your day being overwhelmed and overrun, not knowing who’s praying and who’s counting on what and who you can count on for different things but when you stop there and you see students, you see teachers, you see community members, you see parents, you see kids, you see sometimes even young kids coming to stuff like that it really makes you go ‘I am in a good place and this can be beneficial’.”
Fulton has been a sponsor of FCA for around five years and has been able to see how this event has affected everyone involved.
See You at The Pole has been going on for many years, and the effect it has on the community is nothing short of beautiful. Bringing all different types of people together has never been an easy task, but See You at The Pole has made it an easy way to connect with each other.
Junior Lana Cantrell said, “Every year that we’ve had prayer at the pole I’ve gone and I’ve participated. I think that it definitely gives kids a lot more confidence when it comes to being in, like being bold about their faith because they are going together as a group and they realise how many people there actually are I also think that it’s just good to be light for those who maybe don’t always have a source in their life.”
Cantrell has spent her three years in FCA and has seen the way that See You at The Pole is able to bring all different people from all different backgrounds together to worship and follow in Christ together.
Freshman Chase Price said, “I’ve been going to See You at The Pole for six years now and it truly is an amazing event for the school to get to see everyone coming together in worship in a place that’s just so corrupted and sometimes can make you feel all alone. See You at The Pole is a place that lets you feel like part of a family, part of the community. It’s just so amazing to get to see how many people know Christ and want to get to know him. It makes you feel like you’re not alone in the school and sometimes that can change a person if they’ve been struggling with just life. See You at The Pole gives me one of the best like feelings and is the best way to get to know one another and know who you have in the school and in the community to let you know that you are not alone”
Price has been involved with See You at The Pole since around his fourth grade year. Price has also been involved in Bible Club his seventh and eighth grade year.
See You at The Pole has been an amazing experience for PHS and has created a loving community of not just students and teachers but also with the others in the community who follow in Christ.
