On Thur., Oct. 9, sophomore Chloe Rowe earned a second place medal at the Class 1 District 1 MSHAA tournament, making her state bound.
In the beginning of the season Rowe said that her main goal was to make it to be a state qualifier
In the round of 16 Rowe played Charleston 6-1, 6-1
In quarter finals, Rowe played Kennett’s #4 and won 6-2, 6-1
In the semi-finals, Rowe played Saxony Lutheran’s #1, winning 6-2, 6-3. Pruitt and Rowe played just about a week ago, and the match was a close battle.
Rowe played with a clear focus hoping to represent Potosi at the State tournament. She kept her composure and frustrated her opponent during the match.
Rowe lost in the final round a three-time state champion, Claire Bean, from Kennett.
Rowe is the second player in PHS Girls Tennis history to qualify for the state tournament. Michelle Whitaker was the first in 2021.
Rowe will travel to Springfield Oct. 23-24 to compete at the state tournament.
