Carina is from Baden Wuerttemberg, Germany. She is a senior this year and plays tennis at PHS. In Germany, Carina attends Akaemie Fuer Kommunikation High School. School for Carina back in Germany can be long days. Some classes can get out between 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM, and instead of driving a car or bus to school she takes an hour-long train ride home.
On the weekends, Carina likes to spend time with her family and sleep in. Some activities she enjoys doing with her family are traveling, hiking, and family game night. Her favorite game to play on family game night is Level 8.
Carina has recently started playing tennis again here at Potosi High School. She first started playing in 1st grade and then stopped in 6th grade but is now playing again. Carina’s favorite American food is Chick-Fil-A. She stated, “American food does not compare to German food.” She has tried to make German recipes here but she said “it just doesn’t taste the same and the foods here are very processed.”
Juile Wright is who Carina is staying with while visiting America. Julie has a dog, named Blue and three kids, who no longer live with her. Over Christmas break, Carina will be going on a trip with her host family to Utah to see the West Canyon and Tampa, Florida to see Julie’s family.
When Carina graduates high school, she isn’t sure what she would like to do but she has a few ideas. She is interested in forensic science or some type of clothing design. Carina believes that in America the school system is way easier than school back in Germany and there are many differences that she has to adjust to in this new lifestyle in which she is living.
Carina will be returning back home to Germany May 21, 2026, and she will be very missed by many.
