On Friday Oct. 17 the Potosi Trojans traveled to Desoto to face the Desoto Dragons in their week 8 match up. Knowing and preparing for the tough match up, the Trojans managed to pull away early and maintain that lead until the final buzzer.
The Potosi Trojan Football team advanced to 4-4 on the season after defeating the Desoto Dragons 40-14. The Trojans had many standout players who managed to make an appearance and contribute to the team’s big win.
Friday night, Sophomore quarterback David Miller went 7 for 9 with a total of 79 yards and 3 touchdowns. When in trouble, Miller found his way and rushed for his own 93 yards.
Miller said, “Looking back at the Desoto game I think we worked well as a team and have been getting better over the past couple of weeks.”
Senior Thomas Lambing shined for the Trojan offense in receptions adding 69 yards and contributed another 3 touchdowns. Lambing also added 32 passing yards going 2 for 2 on completions.
Senior running back Noah Walton made his impact by rushing for a total of 212 yards on just 17 attempts. Walton also added 3 touchdowns of his own. Junior Carter Pyatt had his share of rushing yards totaling 56 and Senior Clayton Richards added another 28.
The Trojan defense seemed unstoppable all night resulting in multiple back to back stops which held the Desoto Dragons to just 14 points all game. Senior Cole Fowler also led the Trojan defense with a total of 11 tackles.
When asked about the team’s goals for the rest of the season Miller said, “If we just continue to fight and push to get better, I think it’s going to help us out tremendously through districts.”
The Trojans travel to St. Charles West on Friday Oct. 24 to face the Warriors and will play their first district game on Friday Oct. 31.
