Presley Smith is a sophomore at Potosi High School. She is the only student who is dual-sporting. As a freshman, Smith only ran cross country. But during the summer before her sophomore year, she decided to give volleyball another try to test if it is something she would want to start doing again. August Smith decided she had to figure out how to manage two sports.
Coach Politte said,” She’s used to doing multiple sports, she’s 100% percent in whatever she’s doing, she has a positive attitude all the time, which brings positivity to the team as a whole.”
Peyton Heifner said, “She lifts up the team and is a great person to be around.”
Smith got all-conference for cross country and got sixth overall. The following week, she helped her volleyball team win a conference title for the first time since 1993.
While talking with Coach Matthews, she had many great things to say about Presley being back on the volleyball court. “ She has been a huge asset to our team this year, helping on offense and defense,” said Coach Matthews.
So far this year, she has 26 total blocks, 101 kills, 7 assists, and 67 digs.
Coach Matthews said, “ Her positive energy and grit has brought so much light to our gym and team.”
On Oct 20, Smith will be competing in a cross-country race at Farmington. On Thursday, Oct 23, she will be playing in the second round of district play for volleyball, going head-to-head with the winner of the Central (Park Hills) and Notre Dame (Saint Louis).
