At PHS Cassie Nickelson takes over FFA and Agriculture classes for the second year. Nickelson has made a huge impact on students’ lives, especially in FFA. Nickelson has faced many challenges being the leader of FFA and having multiple agriculture classes throughout the day.
Nickelson said, “Before being an FFA sponsor and teacher, I owned an agriculture wholesale/retail business. I have always had a very busy lifestyle. When you own your own business, you literally work around the clock. Since we sold our business and I became the Agriculture/FFA Advisor, my life is still very busy, it is just a different type of busy. I still have to balance being a mom, wife, daughter, sister, friend, but a different career. Finding that balance for me can be difficult, because anything I do, I give 200%. So, it is easy for me to get caught up in everything here at school and FFA and not be home enough.”
Mrs. Nickelson loved her family business, but she described that she was always busy every day. She enjoys teaching her students as well as being the FFA advisor.
Mia Kley is one of Mrs. Nickelson’s students. She is a sophomore at PHS. She loves cheer, and FFA.
Kley said, “Mrs. Nickelson has FFA and Ag so enjoyable. She’s very interactive with the students and has the heart for agriculture. She has made my experiences in FFA and Ag truly special.”
Kley explained her experience as Mrs. Nickleson being the FFA advisor and teacher is enjoyable and fun as she is very interactive with the students. Kley and Mrs. Nickelson has a love for teaching and for anything outdoors.
