On Mon. Oct. 20, Potosi High School Student Council went to Festus High School for their yearly convention.
Every year, a different school hosts the convention depending on a vote. This year’s convention happened to be at Festus High School and the theme was The Greatest Showman. Many of the Student Council members said that the event was very fun and they learned some key things that they could make use of in their own council.
At the convention, there are games, breakout sessions, a guest speaker, a pep assembly, and lunch is provided. This year’s guest speaker was David Flood. Sophomore STUCO member Sabyn Brown said, “David had very good wisdom to spread to us. He talked about including people and helping others.”
Sophomore member Chloe Lambing said that during a breakout session, she was with a group of students from Chaffee High School and got many good ideas for football homecoming from them. A few of these being the cheerleaders and football players teepeeing each other’s houses, the senior football moms putting on pads and helmets and tackling their sons, and a chili cook-off involving the entire town.
The PHS Student Council members greatly enjoyed this convention and believed it was very beneficial. They can’t wait to go back next year!
