On Oct. 20, 2025, the Potosi cross country team ran at Engler park, in Farmington. The girls’ team overall placed second, behind Farmington. The boys’ team didn’t have enough boys on varsity to place as a team, but they still ran great.
“I definitely feel like I could’ve done better, but I let my exhaustion get the best of me, I felt defeated at the end but I still tried the best I could,” said junior Peyton Heifner, a cross country runner at PHS.
For the girls’ race, Heifner finished fourth with a time of 20:47, sophomore Presley Smith got tenth with a time of 21:55, senior Carley Coleman placed twenty-second with a time of 23:18, sophomore Chloe Lambing placed 39th with a time of 25:06, junior Ava Govro with a time of 25:34, sophomore Peyton Morrison with a time of 25:52, and junior Makya Knoll with a time of 27:02. The girls’ varsity team collectively placed second.
The boys’ team did well individually, but they didn’t have enough boys on varsity to place as a team. Junior Brayden Smith placed nineteenth with a time of 18:37, freshman Zachary Johnson placed twenty-fifth with a time of 18:59, Cohen Long with a time of 19:58. For JV, junior Amonate Hill placed twenty-sixth, junior Austin Rayl with a time of 21:09, junior Davin Buhler with a time of 22:38, and freshman Kamryn DeClue with a time of 25:03.
The Potosi cross country team will be at Arcadia Valley this Sat., Nov. 1, to compete at districts, for a chance to go to state.
