On Oct. 30, 2025, the Lady Trojans traveled to Saxony Lutheran High School in Jackson, MO to play in their sectional game. Although the girls fought hard, they fell short in the end. All season long, the girls stuck with the same motto, “GAS.” This motto meant grit, attitude, and sisterhood. After every time out, before and after every game, and when teaming out, the girls stayed consistent with saying this.
The girls ended their season with a record of 28-5-2. Even though their season didn’t end up turning out how they wanted it to, they still had many great achievements throughout the entire season. This phenomenal group of girls achieved conference and district champs. These players were the first group of Lady Trojans to win an MAAA Tournament title in volleyball since 1993. On top of that, since they got first place in districts again this year, they achieved a 2-peat, winning back to back seasons.
The girls had many team achievements but there were also some outstanding individual accomplishments. Junior Eden Robart achieved 1,000 kills, Junior Macyn McCarthy achieved 1,000 digs, and Junior Adalynn Gibson achieved 1,000 assists. These three worked hard all season to execute these goals and they ended the season surpassing these goals.
Coach Ashley Matthews said, “I am heartbroken for the girls that the season is over because I know they had what it takes to go all of the way. Our last game was not our best game, so it is sad that is how the season ended. Overall I am thrilled with how the season went! This team exceeded any and all expectations that were set for them! They showed that they could compete and win against the best of the best. I am so excited for next season because everyone will be back plus the addition of a great 8th grade group! The future is still bright for Potosi volleyball!”
The PHS volleyball team had an outstanding season and they are already setting goals for next year.
