After placing fourth in the Sullivan Tournament last week, the Potosi Boys Basketball Trojans battled against Jefferson R-7 Tuesday, December 8. The game ended with a score of 60-43, Jefferson taking the win. In the first quarter, the Trojans were down by almost twenty points. However, throughout the game the Trojans started to close the gap. By the fourth quarter it was a ten point ball game, but Jefferson finished on top in the long run.

Senior Ryker Walton has been playing basketball since third grade, and Tuesday was his last first season game. Walton said, “I feel like we didn’t play close to our full capability and we are way better than what our record shows. We just weren’t making shots that we would normally make any other time. My last four years of basketball have flown by and feels like yesterday I started high school. The years have definitely flown by.”

Sophomore Ty Mills has been playing basketball since he was four years old. Mills is playing up with varsity this season. Mills said, “As a team we all worked really hard and tried our best. We really struggled on the offensive side and we couldn’t get any shots to fall. Even though our first seasonal game ended in a loss, we are excited for the rest of the season looking towards the goal of a winning record. If basketball has taught me anything it is to prove people wrong.

The junior varsity and freshman team played before varsity. The freshman game ended with a score of 56-19 with the Trojans coming out on top. The junior varsity game ended with a score of 46-35. The JV team followed suit and won against Jefferson R-7.
