On January 20, senior Wade Mercille signed with Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO to compete on their Shotgun Sports team.

Lindenwood University began skeet, trap, and clay shooting in May 2002. The university has won 13 national championships since then.

Mercille said, “I signed for shotgun sports because it’s close to home with me and has always been a sport that has interested me. My interest in shooting guns began when I was a kid and it’s something I’ve done now all my life. I’ve been shooting in competitions for about two years now and I think I have what it takes to compete at the next level. I am unsure of what exactly I will be studying at Lindenwood, but it will have something to do with engineering.”

“I am grateful for my parents supporting me all of my life and teaching me about this sport. I am excited about getting to learn and compete and the college level”

Mercille is the first student to sign for shotgun sports from Potosi High School.

“It feels good to be signed for this because many people in our town do this sport and do not know it is offered in college. Maybe other students will understand that they could possibly do this if they wanted to.”
