On August 26 the Potosi High School varsity football team played their first game at home, against the St.Clair Bulldogs. The score for this game was 27-14 with the Potosi Trojans winning. Starting off the game St. Clair had the kickoff. 

 

The Trojans started their game hyped up with screams and chants as they ran across the field with an American flag busting through the banner. 

 

“Going into the game I felt confident and I was ready to go win the first game of the season,” said sophomore Jake Phares.  

 

Ending the first quarter neither of the teams had scored. Going into halftime, the score was 14 to 0 with the Trojans winning. At the end of the third quarter the Trojans were still winning 21 to 7. The Trojans were excited to be winning. The pep squad and the cheerleaders were chanting for their team. 

 

The game ended with the PHS varsity football team winning the game 27 to 14. Throughout the game the boys had 240 yards passing and 190 yards rushing. In total the offense had 431 yards. On defense the team had 3 fumble recoveries. 

 

“I felt hyped and I felt it was a very good successful team win,” said senior Eli Harris. 

 

“I felt relieved and I was more confident in our team,” said sophomore Jake Phares. 

 

The Varsity Football teams next game will be this Friday, September 23.
