On April 28, 2023, Mineral Area College held their annual k-12 art show. Ms. Reichert and Mrs. Hill submitted students’ pieces and then took those students on a field trip to see all of the artwork. It was an honor for those students to be chosen to have their art in the show, as it is competitive going up against the other schools. Those who participated got exhibitor awards for being chosen and one student in particular placed 4th in the 9-10th grade mixed media category. Miss Reicherts student Jazmine Ramsey placed.

Jazmine placed fourth with her piece of art depicting a woman in a hat. Jazmine created this piece by going through different magazines and taking pieces out to make a whole image. One interesting thing about Jazmine’s artwork is that she only used pieces of women or women’s names for the piece, to show women empowerment, and how they have done great things dating back years and years.

“I wanted to do this because I care about showing women’s impact in history. I thought that it would be an interesting way to show it through art without the point of the piece being obvious, people would have to think.” Jazmine said.

Women empowerment is one of Jazmine’s many interests. Jazmine likes to show its importance to her through her art. One of the main ways she does this is to women in all mediums of art. She is skilled with multiple mediums of art and enjoys her class time in the art room.

“I think it is great that Jazmine was placed at the art show. She always strives to make her art great and she deserved her award,” Miss Reichert said.
