Time risking shots bring Potosi on top for MAAA Conference crown

On Saturday, February 10, the Potosi Trojans Varsity Basketball team took a second win against the Central Rebels 70-68, in the MAAA Conference championship at Mineral Area College.. 

Potosi junior EJ Sansegraw said, “ We are always looking forward to playing Central and beating them twice, it felt amazing.” 

The Trojans pulled through a strong three quarters with a back to back score against the Rebels. While ending the third quarter with a score Trojans 54, Rebels 57. Potosi freshman Kanaan Wilson tied the game with a three point shot with just two seconds left in the fourth quarter. 

With Wilson tying the game, the game went into overtime with Potosi junior Carter Whitely scoring the winning layup making the Trojans MAAA Conference Champions since 2014.

Following the game Potosi assistant coach Franklin stated, “ I’m just proud of my boys for pushing through many challenges and finding a way to work and win together as a team.”
