On Saturday, March 2, the PHS Speech team competed in Districts at Rolla, making history.
The PHS Speech team had 14 total entrees, some kids being double-entered. Each member of the team competed in 2 preliminary rounds with 2 judges each, then if they advanced, they made it to finals. From finals, they hold awards for how those kids placed and who made state.
While some of the team members were double-entered, they competed extremely well.
The PHS speech team had a wonderful season with many good memories made. During the season many team members got their first 1 scoring and many made finals in their first year.
This year was a lot of the team members’ first year in a speech, and many of the first-year members made finals.
The team was very excited to go to districts and was even more excited to go to state. The PHS Speech team has made history by getting 1st place Sweeps twice in one season. They have also made history by multiple kids making state in one year.
Down below is how each student placed in their respective events and how they’ve placed. Congratulations to everyone who competed.
