On Nov. 14, the PHS speech and debate team competed at their second speech meet at Central High school.

This speech meet is the third of the season and the second event. Within the event there are seven categories that students compete in. These categories include reading, public speaking, and acting events.

The prep for meets can get intense for example, the students get for their pieces they practice during trojan time and class. Students are allowed to practice outside of school. On the way to the meets, students are encouraged to run through their pieces before getting to the Designated school.

Mr. Dement says before every meet, “Just try to get through your piece, if you mess up keep going.”

After each meet, the students receive their ballots where their scoring and comments are located. The students are allowed to review their ballots and reflect on their scoring.

Since this concluded their meets, results for who made finals were given. For Dramatic Interpretation Odie Jackson and Khylee Luther made finals while Jaidlynn Gains is an alternative for finals if anyone drops out. In storytelling, Allison Land made finals. In Extemporaneous Emma Skaggs made finals. Duo Interpretation Odie Jackson and Macy Saunders made finals, and Noelle Porter and Jaidlynn Gaines made finals.
